We’re heading to Ottawa this weekend to check out the official opening of Makerspace North, a 19,000 square foot hub that plays host to makers, startups, and events year round. The Ottawa Makers Digest Curator Kyle McInnes is the Director of the space and we can’t wait to see his maker mecca firsthand!
On Saturday, August 22nd, Makerspace North will be celebrating their official opening from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. The event will have something for everyone and every age – stop by and get a tour of the facilities and meet with a vibrant community of makers and startups. This event will give children and adults alike a sneak peak into the projects, startups, interest groups, tinkerings and creative happenings at Makerspace North.
Rebel.com will be joining forces with Makerspace North to host a mix and mingle that will follow the daytime event. This mingle is an opportunity for connecting the maker community in a social 5 – 7 pm setting.
Highlights of the open house include a drone zone, crafters and artisans, kids exclusive activities, CNC machines, and much more. Tenant groups such as the Ottawa Tool Library and the Ottawa City Woodshop will have memberships on hand for sale, as well as maker memberships for the space.
Located in the City Centre complex, Makerspace North consists of 19,000 square feet of office and warehouse space dedicated to makers, startups and events. Other resident tenants include: Givopoly, Brew Donkey, Smoke Labs, Change Tip and more.
Free tickets to the event can be found on Eventbrite. To join the online conversation, use the hashtag #MakerspaceOH. To learn more, visit www.makerspacenorth.com, visit Makerspace North’s Facebook page or their Twitter account.
