Brika, the Toronto-based curated online marketplace celebrating modern craft and storytelling, has partnered with the Hudson’s Bay Company to create a pop-up shop within the Bay’s flagship store on Queen Street that showcases Canadian makers.

The shop features over 40 Canadian-made designs, some of our favorites include these Kraft Notebooks by Night Jarbooks, this YYZ Pillow by Nicole Tarasick, and these Short Striped Mugs by Dahlhaus. All of the items sold in the shop can also be found online in Brika’s Made in Canada section.

We love that Brika is building a bridge between independent makers and big brands like HBC, but what really gets us excited is that in addition to creating opportunities for their makers’ products to be exposed to new consumers the Brika team has place iPads throughout the pop-up shop so that customers can read the stories behind each item and get to know the makers they are buying from.

Brika founders Jen and Kena are passionate about fostering and engaging creative communities everywhere. The two were in NYC this week promoting American makers through the retail concept store STORY where they hosted an event for their New York makers to get together, meet face to face, and share their experiences.

Whether you are checking out their pop-up shop in HBC or browsing their online shops, the Made in Canada section of Brika has quickly established itself at the top of my list for Christmas shopping plans.
